TheHipHopJunkie
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 2026
TheHipHopJunkie ("we", "us") operates hiphopjunkie.net. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
What we collect
- Contributor applications: name, email address and anything you write in your request to join the newsroom.
- Accounts: email address, display name, bio and optional headshot for approved contributors and staff.
- Event RSVPs: name, email, guest count and any notes you add when you respond to an invitation.
- The Aux Affair submissions: artist name, contact details, links to your music and any materials you send for consideration.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) used for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To review applications and operate contributor accounts.
- To send transactional email — approvals, invitations, RSVP confirmations and account notices.
- To publish articles under the byline you provide.
- To protect the site against abuse and to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing email to people who only submitted an RSVP or an application.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run the site — our hosting and database provider, and our email delivery provider (mail is sent from notify.hiphopjunkie.net). They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Cookies and similar technology
We use only the cookies and local storage required to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. Sponsored placements on the site are served by us and labelled "Sponsored".
Email and unsubscribing
Every non-essential email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at hiphopjunkie.net/unsubscribe. Account-critical email (sign-in details, approvals) cannot be unsubscribed while your account is active.
Retention
We keep applications and RSVP records for as long as needed to run the newsroom and our events, and delete or anonymize them when they are no longer needed.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to close your contributor account, by emailing thehiphopjunkie718@gmail.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above always reflects the current version.
