The Maybach Music Group boss, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested early Thursday, October 1, and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County at approximately 6:10 a.m.
According to jail and court records, Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Both charges are listed as involving domestic violence.
Bond was reportedly set at $5,000 for the felony charge and $1,000 for the misdemeanor charge, bringing the total to $6,000\. Ross is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22\.
Details surrounding the alleged incident remain limited. Authorities have not publicly released the full circumstances that led to the arrest or identified the alleged victim\.
The arrest comes just days after Ross’ former girlfriend, model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused the rapper of physical abuse. Kendrick shared photos on social media showing an injured lip that she alleged was caused by Ross during an incident approximately a month earlier.
At this time, authorities have not publicly confirmed whether Kendrick’s allegations are connected to the charges stemming from Ross’ arrest.
Ross’ attorney, Bradley Horenstein, has denied the allegations against the rapper and maintains his innocence\. His legal team has asked the public to allow the judicial process to play out before reaching conclusions about the case.
The arrest marks a serious legal development for the 50 year old Miami rap veteran, who has remained one of hip-hop’s most recognizable artists and entrepreneurs for nearly two decades through his solo career and Maybach Music Group\.
As of publication, the allegations remain accusations, and Ross has not been convicted of the charges.
