June! June! That Girl June!

June Ambrose and HOV link up, again, this time it's across the pond!

If you are a lover of fashion and/or hip hop then you must have heard of the legendary June Ambrose. And no I'm not bias because she's from New York or because she's a Black woman or because she's a HBCU bear mom although we do have all those in common. It is her personality that I adore the most. Like have you seen her IG posts? She is literally the definition of vibe!

Let's take a moment to travel back in time and discover why June Ambrose is in fact a legend. She has undoubtedly opened the door for so many stylists and creatives that you see today.

June grew up in the Bronx which is also the birthplace of Hip Hop so it's practically destiny that she would get her start on the sets of hip hop and r&b music videos. She helped develop the image for so many of our favorite artist and groups like Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington, Will Smith and so many others. And might I mention she was the costume designer of the 1998 classic film, Belly. Over the years she has collaborated with brands to design her own collection. She also the Creative Director at Puma and designed the brand first ever fashion line for women's basketball. June Ambrose literally changed the game plan for a company that was in business way before she was born. I mean how iconic is that?

Her latest venture is as Creative Director and Global Ambassador for Naturalizer, where she designed The Style-letics Capsule, a limited edition shoe and sneaker collection. The first collection launched early 2026 and featured the NOVA & NOVA Shaft, a convertible open toe shoe that can be worn alone or with the knee high add on perfect for day or night. The ZYRA shoe was designed in neutral tones that could take any look from sporty to classy to office. The RAVYN shoe on the other hand is giving I need to be on a resort all year round with the sleek thong toe design. Her NUVRA sneakers is the cherry on top because every girl needs a pair of sneakers that's not just comfy but also stylish plus versatile and June delivered. The second drop just landed in September. This collection expanded on the first with a few pleasant changes. First being the ZYRA is now available in a new colorways and even kitten heel and before you knock it you gotta try it. I love a good kitten heel you can wear all day. She also has another sneakers collection called TRECCA which is more sporty than the first in a good way. I can see them being paired with any athleisure look whether running errand or running on the treadmill you're sure to get compliments.

Don't be left out ladies as they are selling faster than the mother's board banana pudding after church.

I haven't found much information about that cardigan HOV was wearing but here's what I did find and no I did not ask Ai. On June's IG there was literally one image with a tag so I started doing my research. The brand is called Sacai, founded by designer Chitose Abe in Tokyo. The cardigan is from their 2027 Mens collection and was designed to pay homage to The UK collective Soul II Soul. The brand describes the collection as "British institutional soul and heavy-stepping reggae soundsystem culture. threw them in a blender, and created an entirely new, sophisticated global rhythm. That same synthesis drives this collection". Now of course I can appreciate all the looks he wore that was styled and/ or designed by June especially the denim fits with the black and construction tims because yes I'm from New York! New York!

Back to the cardigan, at first I thought it was a jacket until I zoomed in and noticed the ribbed sleeve cuff and the buttons which made me loved it even more. The images appear to be photographs in a vintage finish not to say that the images are old. I was personally trying to figure out if any looked familiar. According to Soul II Soul DJ Jazzie B the images are from their archive. And if you look closely you'll notice even the titles of their hit songs "Back To Life" and "Keep On Movin" said to create a dialogue between fashion and a shared musical heritage by L'Officiel Homme. I can see why June pulled this piece for the concert. Not only did it show her conscious appreciation for statement pieces from authentic brands but also wanting to show love to the artists and designers in The UK. Now if that is not ICONIC then I don't know what is.
