HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY

Eight years ago on August 22, 2018, I started HipHopJunkie.

It started out as just another outlet for me to show my love for the culture outside of being a music producer. I did two write ups, one on Travis Scott’s “Astroworld” and one on Eminem’s “Kamikaze” and honestly, I had no idea what I was starting.

Eight years later, HipHopJunkie has morphed into so much more.

It became a platform. A community. A place where artists, producers, executives, creatives, and fans could connect. It became one of the culture’s go to pages on Instagram, and along the way, it humbled me with the recognition it’s received and, even more importantly, the relationships that have been built because of it.

But the biggest lesson has been that you never really know what your consistency is building while you’re in the middle of it.

HipHopJunkie opened doors for me that I didn’t even know existed. It allowed me to move through this culture from different angles, not just as a music producer, but as a media personality, creative, strategist, curator, and connector.

And eventually, HipHopJunkie became the foundation for something even bigger.

That foundation gave birth to The Aux Affair, a physical extension of what I’ve always believed HipHopJunkie should represent: bringing people together, creating space for artists, building relationships, and giving music and culture a room to breathe.

From launching The Aux Affair in 2026 and working with partners like TIDAL and BMI to collaborating with SoundCloud and creating opportunities for emerging artists to be heard, the vision continues to evolve.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, OhThatsQuan became another extension of me, the person behind the work, the ideas, the conversations, the creativity, and the vision.

Three different names with one common thread.

I’ve never stopped creating.

I’m proud of what HipHopJunkie has become, but I’m even more excited about what it’s still becoming.

Because this was never about chasing a title, a number, a viral moment, or validation. It was always about the culture.

It was always about the work.

And eight years later, I still have the same love for this thing that made me start in the first place.

This logo will forever be stamped because I’ll never stop doing the work.

And we’re just getting started.
